Artist of the Week brought to you by Zedian.

MIA
This week is all about hype, we had E3 for gamers and The Dark Knight comes out. So let us shred away from the public eye and give it someone else.
I followed MIA in 2005 with her very first take, which was often delayed but finally made it, the album name was "Arular". Now MIA might not be for everyone, if you can handle music that cross many international boundaries of Dance Hall, Electro, Jungle and worldy music.
The short Tamilian Sri Lankan descent has a big voice full of lots of color social commentary that is often political, humorous and reflects the mirrors of social realism. Her singing style is more or less rapped but sometimes can sound more as if she is talking, in a real speedy fashion.
As good as "Arular" was, and basically gridded her positioning on the global map, it was her latest released called "Kala" which really saw her begin to absolutely take shape.
Since her 2007 devliering, she had a week-long stint on MTV's "Artist of the Week", gave to many-a-critic the best performance at the annual Bonaroo Music Festival this calender year and her very infectious jam, "Planes", is the theme song to the sharp-looking Pineapple Express.
MIA has come a long way, even crossing the oceans to come here with her parents at a very young age, she could have just been really pissed off at us Americans and downplay our culture but instead talks about her home, and their problems, sometimes wishing that the world would turn over and unite. As if that is going to ever happen.
I say give her a shot.
