Quick history of Silent Rival's pages by Zedian.
Silent Rival was originally created as a school project of mine back in my college days. It was my first experience with design and programming for web sites. The first official site with the domain name was registered, enter in the database and came to fruitation in 2004. The site started as a small nobody project but then quickly in 2005 through word-of-mouth the site, at this time in it's second incarnation bloomed. We have strived on delivering news, reviews and what ever else can be the least bit entertaining without a biased approach, we also believe fully in diversity.
With this Silent Rival covers everything from politics to The Who to fantasy football and Final Fantasy and even something for the anime/manga freaks out there too. Thank you everyone for your support both the viewers and the helpers along the way who made this little school project grow each year and here is to an exciting new future with more constant growth. Feel free to click on each thumbnail to get a bigger picture. Also for 4 years I have had the little stick figure joyfully dance around non-stop around the clock, "Cool Guy" as I call him was created by my good friend Austin.
What else can I say except this is where it all started. Man how time flies by!
This is the second flavor of Silent Rival which was created around the holidays of 2005...thus it's colder more comic looking feel.
We also introduced was is now our official logo.
I kind of consider this time and flavor of the SR to be a dark transition in the sites' history. The web site with a friend of mine (INsane you'll see him on the boards) was built entirely with PHP and AJAX so it had all the trimmings for web 2.0 when at the time it was just a buzz word. But somehow...I didn't really feel it and thought it was rather plain. Plus our symbolic logo was gone.
Last but not least there was the latest time period for A Silent Rival. I decided to go back to the sites' darker more comical feel over the cutesy-bright colors that my meth-laced brain was on for Version 3.0. This was the latest version of the site and to this day was the most complicated for some reason because I decided to go back to the old school ways and create entirely with tables and use iframes...a big no-no for all pratical purposes. Two days in a row straight and I got it.
